Meet our Team of Professionals

Tom took over full responsibility of the firm in 1997 when he succeeded Victor E. Hencken III as President. Beyond the day to day management responsibilities of the firm, Tom is extremely involved with providing pre-construction services on many of the firms projects. In addition to being President of Hencken & Gaines, Tom is the CEO of solargaines, a renewable energy company. Tom is a current Trustee of the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland and is a former board member of the Baltimore Building Congress and Exchange. Sally and her family live in the Roland Park neighborhood in Baltimore City.
Jill is the glue that has held our operations together for 26 years. If you need something done right away, call Jill. When she’s not managing the office work flow, Jill lives and cruises the Chesapeake Bay on her 53’ Hatteras “Remark IV” with her Cockapoo dog, Maggie, and her husband, Captain John. Her favorite past time, however, is hanging out with her daughter, Kari.

Chris started with Hencken & Gaines in 1986 as a superintendent and helped manage some of our toughest projects. He served as a general superintendent and then became a project manager in 1992. Chris enjoys discovering the latest technology gadgets and using his laptop to simplify daily tasks. His proudest achievements are his three children: his two sons are graduates of Drexel University and his daughter is currently attending York College in Pennsylvania.
Brandy joined Hencken & Gaines in 2007 as our receptionist. Since then, Brandy has taken on many rolls including assisting Bill Yonker and lending a hand wherever needed. Brandy is always willing to “roll up her sleeves” and tackle any project. She enjoys soccer, crafts, camping and working with her husband on home remodeling projects.
Marcy joined the Hencken & Gaines family in 2005 as our controller and brought 27 years of accounting experience. Marcy takes great pride in handling our company’s day-to-day accounting. She spends most of her time with her husband, daughter and son. As long as the sun is shining, you’ll catch her sporting around with the top down in her convertible.
Doug is another one of our seasoned superintendents. Hencken & Gaines was fortunate to have Doug join our team when Nottingham Construction was sold. Prior to Hencken & Gaines, Doug spent 14 years with Nottingham and 15 years with Porter Brothers. He has built everything from parking garages to medical office buildings. In his spare time, Doug enjoys crabbing and fishing.
John came to us five years ago as a superintendent with vast experience in the construction field and a keen attention to detail. During this time, he has completed numerous difficult projects and always exceeded customers’ expectations. As if he doesn’t stay active enough on the job, he is even busier at home with his boys’ sporting events, working out, and spending time with his wife.
Bill’s 17 years as a superintendent with Hencken & Gaines has given him the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. His “jack of all trades” ability makes him a nice fit for the types of projects we work on. Bill shares his time away from the job with his wife and family.

“Fonz,” as we call him, has been a seasoned carpenter with Hencken & Gaines for 28 years and can always be counted on. Fonz’s favorite past time is, believe it or not, working! He never seems to run out of energy except when you put a fishing rod in his hand – the only time he can sit back and relax.
